This divergence of sounds, coupled with chaotic recording sessions helmed by a chair-throwing producer, should have resulted in unlistenable chaos. Instead, London Callin g is the most perfect of messes, wherein every missed note, rushed tempo, and improvised growl lands in exactly the right place. Thirty years on, London Calling remains magnificent, vital, and utterly inimitable.

The drums collect into a beat, and Strummer slowly picks up strength and authority as he sings:. Everything has been brought together into a single, vast, stirring story — one that, as the Clash tell it, seems not only theirs but ours. There is additional clarity to the recordings with some additional depth and perhaps emphasized bass. It IS mastered loud, so don't expect an 80's-type digital mastering, and make sure your volume control is handy! I do not think that anyone who has experience with well-mastered SACDs or DVD-Audio discs will think this sounds better than either format, but since this seminal title is not available on either of those, this is the best Highly Recommended, but only if you really love the title.

Featuring Joe Strummer on rhythm guitar and vocals, Mick Jones on guitar with some vocals , Paul Simenon on bass contributing vocals , and Topper Headon on drums and percussion, this group played well and played raw.
Lyrics were tough and there was always a rough edge that worked well. This is possibly their best work and one of the classic rock and punk works of the past three decades. You Tube has a terrific clip of The Clash singing this, with some nice visuals involved, starting off with the clock. Take a look! Then, "Spanish Bombs.
The beat is supported well by the rhythm section and there is a nice forward momentum to this song. Joe Strummer's voice produces a nice punk rock sound.
