During the events of Day of Vengeance , Eclipso seduced the Spectre into slaughtering most of Earth's magic users after she claimed that magic was the source of all of Earth's evil. The Spectre's rampage on magic users resulted in the death of the wizard Shazam, the destruction of the Rock of Eternity, and the release of the forces contained within it, which included the Seven Deadly Sins and numerous other demons.
Nabu confronted the Spectre, whose anger grew so great that the Presence took notice and sent the Spectre to his new host.
In the process, Nabu died, and with him, the Ninth Age of Magic. Although Nabu and his spirit would no longer be a part of the helmet, it would still have significant powers. After a failed attempt by Detective Chimp to put the helmet on, he asked Captain Marvel to throw the helmet down to Earth and let it land where it will, allowing fate to pick the next Doctor Fate. The deaths of the Lords of Order and Chaos caused magic to break down into its basic raw state, triggering the end of the Ninth Age of Magic and the beginning of the Tenth.
Amethyst and Mordru are the only known Lords to have survived into the Tenth Age. The most prominent Lord of Order is Nabu , who empowered and occasionally possessed various humans through the Helmet of Nabu who acted as Doctor Fate. Originally, Doctor Fate was depicted as an agent for Order, or the forces of good. After one of the Caemlyn group of Aes Sedai is attacked supposedly by a group of Aiel, they blame Rand and become hostile just when 2 more Sisters arrive at Caemlyn turning the number of the sisters to thirteen.
Shortly afterward, he and Min are captured by the Aes Sedai in Cairhien. They hide him in a chest; after he tries to escape and kills 2 Warders , they keep him there at all times, taking him out regularly to beat him. He develops claustrophobia, interacts more and more with Lews Therin , and becomes more firm in his emotional detachment and mistrust of Aes Sedai.
Lews Therin helps him break the weavings of the Aes Sedai and the chest. When he breaks free, he inadvertently stills several of the Aes Sedai holding him captive. He later makes a number swear allegiance to him. The Lord of Chaos ebook cover was created by Greg Manchess. Game Review. Opening it, he received a blast to the face from a Mossberg gauge shotgun , which authorities believe killed him instantly. Foster shot him a second time in the buttocks because he wrongly perceived him to be a homosexual.
Mistakenly believing that it was impossible to trace shells back to his shotgun because it was a smooth bore weapon, Foster left the two spent shotgun shells at the scene.
Lead detectives on the case initially focused on a love triangle they believed Mark Schwebes had been caught up in. However, the members of the group and its fringe members soon began bragging about the killing. On May 2, Craig Lesh, a hanger-on of the group, bragged to his ex-girlfriend, Julie Schuchard, that the Lords of Chaos had killed the teacher.
He told her that he had been present and was actually the one who had knocked on the door. On May 3, after a restless night, Schuchard decided that she had to tell the authorities what she knew. From Schuchard, detectives learned not only of Schwebes's murder, but also of the group's plans to commit armed robbery at a Hardee's restaurant where Magnotti and Shields worked. The detectives then questioned Craig Lesh, learning that he had not actually been present during the murder.
They also learned that the group had been responsible for the Coca-Cola bottling-plant bombing. This led to the arrests of the key members of the group, on their way to commit the Hardee's robbery.
Brad Young and Craig Lesh were quickly released with no charges filed against them. Chris Burnett worked out a deal with prosecutors whereby he would plead guilty to second-degree arson and armed robbery and serve two years in jail, receive 10 years' probation and turn state's evidence against the Lords of Chaos.
Tom Torrone also turned state's evidence, being allowed to plead no contest to second-degree arson and serve one year in jail with 10 years' probation. In March , Magnotti pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and was sentenced to 32 years—one for each year of Mark Schwebes's life—and agreed to testify. Two weeks before his trial began, Shields pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, followed in October by Black. Both received life imprisonment.
After a wave of church burnings begins, Faust brutally kills a gay man, leading police to link black-metallers to the crimes. Helvete is raided and shut down by the police, and Varg is arrested as prime suspect after an interview with a Bergen newspaper in which he boasts of the crimes. He is soon released for lack of evidence. Varg tells Euronymous that he is leaving Mayhem and is starting his own record label. Euronymous reveals that the "skull piece" necklaces were fakes, and that he never intended anyone to follow through on his angry rhetoric, which infuriates Varg.
In anger, Euronymous rants to a peer about wanting to kill Varg, but later calms down and sends him a contract to release their music rights to him. Varg, having heard that Euronymous was making death threats against him, travels to Oslo in the early morning of August 10 to confront him.
Telling Euronymous he wants to sign the contract, he enters his apartment and, after a brief conversation, stabs him. Euronymous pleads for his life, but Varg follows him through the apartment to the stairwell outside and stabs him to death. The next day, the news of Euronymous' murder spreads throughout Norway and Varg is soon arrested. He is sent to prison for a maximum of 21 years, guilty of both the murder of Euronymous and the burning of several churches.
In a voice-over , Euronymous tells the audience not to feel sorry for him, that he enjoyed his life and invented a new sub-genre of metal. Lords of Chaos is based on the book of the same name.
