The success of the album derives from a combination of an increased sense of songwriting skills and purpose. Taking his cue from the old dirty blues "Big Ten Inch Record," Tyler writes with a gleeful impishness about sex throughout Toys in the Attic , whether it's the teenage heavy petting of "Walk This Way," the promiscuous "Sweet Emotion," or the double-entendres of "Uncle Salty" and "Adam's Apple.
Before Toys in the Attic , no other hard rock band sounded like this. Sure, Aerosmith cribbed heavily from the records of the Rolling Stones , New York Dolls , and Led Zeppelin , but they didn't have any of the menace of their influences, nor any of their mystique. Aerosmith was a gritty, street-wise hard rock band who played their blues as blooze and were in it for a good time; Toys in the Attic crystallizes that attitude. Please try again later. Verified Purchase. This is a review of the vinyl reissue. The copy I received is the reissue, pressed at RTI "from the original source tapes" with a sticker on the front that says so , but it wasn't one of the 5, numbered copies, which I thought was what "Limited Edition" in the Amazon description referred to. It's okay, though -- I believe it's the same record, with the same mastering, just without the numbered jacket and the Record Store Day sticker. This vinyl edition is pressed on gram vinyl.
My copy was perfectly flat, with an almost totally noise-free background. I'm not sure if it's mastered from the original analog tapes or if it was done from high-res digital it's hard to be sure these days , but it sounds very good, with a nice balanced sound and good dynamics.
Sometimes the special albums surpass the greatest hits albums and all the songs flow really well. You See Me Crying. Sell This Version.

I could not stand the fact that a band as big as Aerosmith would resort to mind-numbingly droll efforts such as 'Don't Want To Miss A Thing'. I want songs about women, partying and drinking - and chase the same pursuits while listening to said music.
This is one of those albums. It's not flat-out hardcore rock, it's a music of a certain time and generation when new-wave synth and Madonna were soon to become all that everyone talked about. It's kind of slinky and mellow Sweet Emotion , but groove-laden and ballsy enough to keep the die-hards of the era impressed too Walk This Way. A good starter for Aerosmith rock fans, not Aerosmith pop fans. Ah, the glory days of Aerosmith.
I was 12 years young when I first bought this album and it was the very first Aerosmith album I ever owned! Wore out the grooves! Produced by Jack Douglas, it saw the band taking their songwriting to another level after a year on the road touring previous release, Get Your Wings.
A solo composition from singer Steven Tyler offers up his take on the traditional bible story of Adam and Eve, complete with a deliciously lascivious vocal delivery. Tyler sounds at his most malevolent here, as he appears to lament the loss of trust in a relationship going wrong.
